Coffee is traditionally an essential part of Croatian culture, making "na kavi" (on coffee) an expression for time with friends. Preparing Turkish coffee is a ritual of connection to the senses and community — a process in which every detail has its place and meaning, but every household has its own slightly different recipe.
The system is designed to encourage open-ended playful interaction with the object and everyday experience. The coffee ritual becomes a present and interactive part of the home, as well as a topic of conversation and connection between friends as they arrange their totem compositions.
Joining contrasting symbols of Turkish towers and iconic totems of Italian Memphis design — paying homage to distinctive blending of different influences in Croatian cultural and visual heritage.
Connected by colourful wooden elements that serve as plates or coasters with matching radii that allow the potential to introduce different shapes, colours and materials
The project was created at Zagreb School of Design in collaboration with the regional brand Barcaffe.
